The JIBS Bursary Scheme

Whilst the difficult economic climate and intense focus on offshore centres has made it a particularly testing time for businesses in Jersey recently, the Island has emerged in relatively good shape, with the finance industry gaining a particularly strong reputation on the international stage.

The challenge now is to ensure that Jersey continues to focus on the skills of its workforce, to back up its recent achievements. This can only be achieved by concentrating on ‘up-skilling’ the local workforce and investing in professional education. That doesn’t mean simply throwing money at training initiatives – it needs to be appropriate too.

With this in mind, the School is launching its Bursary Scheme, which seeks to attract the brightest students irrespective of their ability to pay for a course of study. The thinking is that, if someone is particularly keen and able to undertake a qualification that will enable them to develop a successful career, they should have the opportunity to do so – perhaps they are not able to be sponsored by their employer, have been made redundant, are looking to re-enter work or are considering a career change.

The JIBS Bursary Scheme is open to all Jersey residents who wish to pursue a course of study at the School that will lead to a professional qualification. As qualifications are launched throughout the year, the Scheme will run on an ongoing basis. Application forms may be downloaded by clicking the link below.

As applications will be carefully assessed, all those who apply will need to choose the course they apply for carefully, making sure that the one they choose is most relevant to their professional aspirations and that they can meet the academic criteria for the course.

The financial support for the Bursary students is made possible through the JIBS Corporate Partnership Programme and the generosity of the School’s Corporate Partners.
