School to School

Without any prior office experience, I felt that in order to gain a greater understanding of company operations and how businesses work I would have to see first-hand what work is like from a professional perspective. Currently in the Sixth form of Victoria College, I have lived a very sheltered lifestyle where learning is concerned, most sources for research are given, you get to sit to next to who ever you like and the pressure is very much taken off outside of the exam timetable. Being Introduced to a Life in Finance work scheme in association with Careers Jersey and Jersey Finance  gave the opportunity for students to acquire experience through the local Jersey finance companies. After a more rigorous selection process than expected, we were required to write Curriculum Vitae’s, applications forms and cover letters,  which were then sent off to the companies involved with the scheme.
