Institute of Directors Qualifications
The Institute of Directors
The role of directors and strategic leaders within all sectors and sizes of organisation has never before been under as much scrutiny as it is today. With an ever-increasing focus on professionalism and integrity demanded from the Government, investors, the media and other stakeholders, directors are faced with a simple choice; improve and raise standards, or face the consequences.
For many years the conventional wisdom was that directors did not need specific training or a director’s qualification for their role when they reached the board. It was assumed that business experience, being good at the job and being a qualified accountant was qualification enough.
Modern business has changed. There are now extra demands on directors. You simply cannot afford to stand still.
It is vital that as a business leader you are up-to-date with best practice and current business thinking. And most importantly that you have a means of demonstrating this to the outside world. You will already recognise that to build a business, training and development, along with an appropriate professional qualification, are necessary to raising the knowledge and expertise of employees, but development should not stop at the boardroom door.
